Chinese vice premier meets Microsoft's Bill Gates

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met here on Friday with Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and expressed hopes that China could increase cooperation with the software giant.

Li said the potential market of China, with steady and rapid growth, should not be ignored by any investor with strategic perspective.

The information industry plays an important role in promoting economic and social development, Li said, noting that China is ready to expand cooperation with Microsoft and other world-famous companies to promote the development of China's information industry.

Gates said Microsoft would increase cooperation with China.

Gates was here on a visit for the Beijing Olympics. He watched events in Beijing and also visited Hong Kong to watch the equestrian events.
