Earthquake hits Samar, Philippines

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Samar, the Philippines, at 1028 GMT Friday, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a bulletin.

The epicenter was initially determined by the Hong Kong Observatory at 12.9 degrees north latitude and 124.3 degrees east longitude, about 69 km east-southeast of Legaspi, the Philippines.
