According to a statement by the Ministry of Finance on August 12, the central government finance appropriated 8.64 billion RMB in special funds to ensure the national's rural middle and primary school students can get free textbooks in the fall semester.
The Ministry of Finance indicated that together with the free textbooks funds of 8.64 billion RMB in the spring, the total funds in 2008 appropriated by the central government finance has reached 17.28 billion RMB.
