Olympics open, star-rated hotel occupancy rates rise

The occupancy rates of star-rated hotels in Beijing have risen since the opening of the Olympic Games. Meanwhile, accommodation prices continue to rise and fall, and the tourists are flooding into scenic areas.

According to a survey of Olympic tourism, the daily reception of tourists to star-rated hotels in Beijing remains steady. On August 12, Beijing's star-rated hotels received 78,000 people from home and abroad, among which 39,000 were domestic guests and 39,000 were guests from overseas. Compared with the number received on August 8, the number of tourists received on August 12 increased by 4,000 people.

Meanwhile, on August 12, the occupancy rate of five-star-rated hotels reached 80.3%, 0.3% more than it in August 8. The occupancy rate of hotels with a three-star rating or lower was between 30% and 40%. The accommodation prices of hotels with a three-star rating or higher decreased.

Moreover, on August 12, the occupancy rate of the Olympic-signed hotel is 78.5%, 0.7% more than it in August 8. The average price for a standard room was 2,691 yuan per day on August 12, showing an 8.6 percent drop from that on August 8.
